AUDITION INFORMATION BELOW, BUT FIRST...WHAT ABOUT DIALECTS?

Well, it is very hard to coach dialects online, so there will be extra-help and after-school coaching opportunities for dialect help. The dialects you will want to learn are contained in the Character Descriptions you may link to above. Cockney, General British, Scottish, and High British (received pronunciation) will be used. Please see me with any questions before the workshop if you'd like. I'm open to hearing bits of your monologues and how your dialects are coming. Ask for help from each other. Speak in dialect A LOT! Get used to the new sounds. It should be second nature, otherwise you may find that the dialect will distract you and get in the way of your acting. Don't stress about it though. If you must do your audition without a dialect, I will keep an open mind and use your acting as the basis for your casting. See you soon!

Auditions for A Christmas Carol are in early September, 2004. No experience in acting is required.

The audition will consist of one 60-90 second monologue. Callbacks will be reading from the script

There will be an Audition Prep workshop one day in the week before auditions. This workshop will be very useful and provide lots of good information, so you are encouraged to attend if you can.

A headshot or resume is not required, but Conservatory Seniors should have one as well as a mockup resume.

In early September, sign-up sheets will be available on the outside doors of room 49, Mr. Draper's room. Each actor will only be needed for about 30-45 minutes on audition days, and hopefully no more than two hours for callbacks.

Please bring your calendars to your audition as a conflict sheet will be provided. We will need to know your schedule conflicts through Thanksgiving, so please come prepared with your accurate fall schedule (all debate trips, sports conflicts, afternoon tutoring, etc.). You will be held to the conflict schedule you provide prior to casting. Surprise conflicts will be a problem and your advance planning will help with this. Thank you.

The cast list should be posted right after callbacks. Break a leg!
