ACTIVITIES:
1. What made Soup and Rob such good friends? Desribe their friendship in a paragraph. You may include a description of your friendship with someone, as well.
2. The events in this story take place in a small town in Vermont in the 1920's. Think about how the story would be different if the story took place in your town today. What different things would Rob and Soup do to amuse themselves? What kinds of trouble might they run into? Write a paragraph about these things.
3. Pretend that you are advertising a television movie of this story. Choose funny or exciting scenes from the story and make a commercial that will make your class want to see the movie.
4. "Soup" was Luther Wesley Vinson's nickname. Make a list of other nicknames that you know, either of classmates or famous people. See if you can find out how those people got their nicknames and write about them.
