ACTIVITIES:
1. Why did each of the animals tell the hippo that she looked ridiculous? Tell whether you agree or disagree with what they said and explain why in a paragraph.
2. Explain why animals look the way they do: the giraffe with its long neck, the leopard and its spots, the turtle with a shell.
3. Pretend the hippo walked through a farmyard and met farm animals. What do you think these animals would say? Draw a picture of what the hippo would look like if she looked like them.
4. Make up riddles based on animals' looks; for example, "I have scales and no legs, but I don't live in the water." (snake) Do at least 10 riddles.
