ACTIVITIES:
1. Write a postcard to an older person
in your family who might enjoy hearing from you, as
Paddington did to his Aunt Lucy. Cut a piece of cardboard
for the postcard, draw a colorful picture on one side, turn
the card over and write your message on the left side, and
the address on the right side. Put a stamp on the card. Show
it to our class and then mail it!
2. Ask some of your relatives about
their experiences while getting a driver's license. Write a
report in which you describe this. Use a clever title for
the article.
3. Scan the book for a number of
English expressions used, such as torch for flashlight. Do
your best to find out what each one means. Make a list of
them and their meanings. Do at least 10
please.
4. Write a menu of very unusual food
Padington might have created, such as Boot Wellington.
Include a short description of each dish.
5. Write a catchy slogan about a fruit
to encourage someone to buy and eat it. Be more original
than: "A currant a day keeps the doctor away." Put this on a
poster with a picture of your fruit and make an ad for
it.
6. Make a costume out of paper similar
to the costume parade that Mr. Curry won.
