ACTIVITIES:
1. Choose 3 homophone riddles that are
easy and 3 that are difficult. Ask your classmates the
riddles and see if they can guess the answers. Write the
riddles and answers out with a picture.
2. Make up your own homophone riddle.
Draw a picture that will help give clues to the
answer.
3. Make a "pair tree" full of
homophone fruit. Start by drawing a tree trunk with branches
on a large poster. Then list as many homophone pairs as you
can. Make a fruit shaped card for each pair and print the
homophones on the card Attach the cards to the branches and
watch your tree grow!
4. Make a Word Game with pairs of
matching homophones. Play it like concentration and have a
classmate demonstrate how to do it.
5. Write a poem using as many homophones as you can.
It may be silly or serious. These lines might help you get started: One
day I heard, So I went to peek, A thundering herd, Coming over a peak.
