Key to the Treasure

ACTIVITIES:

1. Finding the treasure was very important to the Roberts family. Why? How do you think that Grandpa and Gram felt when Bill, Lize, and Jed finally discovered the treasure? Describe in a paragraph.

2. What do you think the children will do with the treasures they found? If you found some old Indian treasures, what would you do? Write about it in a paragraph.

3. Plan a treasure hunt. Hide a treasure in your classroom. Make up some clues and write them in a code like the ones in the book. You might also draw a treasure map. See if your classmates can find the treasure. This may also be done outdoors.

4. Make your own secret Indian treasures. You can use cardboard, string, and old pieces of leather to make treasures like the children found. Share these things with your classmates.
