ACTIVITIES:
1. In what ways was Heracles the same as that of ordinary
people, and in what ways was he different? Write a paragraph showing these
comparisons and contrasts.
2. Name some other heroes and heroines, both real
and imaginary, who performed feats of courage and power like Heracles.
Explain how they were heroes in a paragraph.
3. Heracles was successful in
completing some terrible tasks. Invent another labor for
him. Try to make it even more unusual or difficult than the
ones described in the book. Draw pictures and write a story
about how a Heracles completes your task.
4. Take a survey of your classmates to
find out who their heroes and heroines are. Ask them to
think of historical figures and people alive today, as well
as imaginary characters from stories. Sports figures can
certainly be included, too.
