THE GIFT-GIVER

ACTIVITIES:

1. Design an invention that could have helped Doris and her friends keep cool in summer. Draw a diagram of your invention and try to label the parts. Put it on a poster.

2. Pretend you are Doris and write a letter to Amir answering his questions in the story.

3. Make a chart with the names of the 4 seasons. Under the season's name, list the sights, sounds, tastes, and smells that season makes you think of.

4. Draw a picture of what a block party in your own neighborhood would look like. Write a caption to help explain.

5. Make a family tree. Have someone in your family help you to research generations. Don't forget to include yourself.
