ACTIVITIES:
1. Write a paragraph describing the ways that Calf
Bay showed his love for his mother and his father.
2. This story is an Indian legend. One
theme of the legend is given at the end of the book: "We are
all related." Explain this theme in your own words and tell
how this idea applies to you and your classmates in a short
essay.
3. Use watercolors to paint a picture that shows a
dramatic scene from the book. Choose a scene that is not already pictured
in the book. Write a caption, also.
4. The legend describes a close connection between
the Indian and the buffalo. Use references to find out why the buffalo
was so important to the Indians' way of life on the Great Plains. Write
this in a paragraph.
